She doesn’t take any of your excuses, stands up for you, calls you on your crap and doesn’t cotton to layabouts.Your big sister punches anyone out who calls you names. Your big sister will tell you when those jeans make you look fat. She’ll hold your head when you puke and makes sure you get up in time for your birthday hostess job at Chuck E. Cheese’s. Your big sister picks up on things you don’t. She uses her keen skills of bullshit detecting to maneuver you around those obstacles. She only wants the best for you but won’t placate your feelings just to be liked, like your parents keep doing.
Your big sister has been down that road before. She’s gotten her heart broken by all kinds of wrong. She’s played the field and had a helluva time. She doesn’t have any regrets, except for maybe a make out session with a
roadie during a Toad the Wet Sprocket concert. Your big sister needs you to listen to her. She needs you to get your head out of your ass and live your life truthfully. That truth may not be popular, or easy to hear or even enjoyed by many but it’s the truth. And it’s better to live a life filled with the truth, then trudge through it hiding away the love you may have for someone, or the fear you can’t make your dreams come true, or the anxiety of not being liked or the wish to take yourself beyond what you thought.
